Kentucky Derby Day

Churchill Downs Races 1-7

RACE 1- OC 150K/C- 7 Furlongs

#4 Midnight Sands (4/1)- Ships in from Dubai and a winner of 5 straight races.  A very confident horse who is working well for his US debut

#5 Hog Creek Hustle (3/1)- Grade 1 Winner with some serious back class and if he runs any where to his best races he will be right in the mix

RACE 2- MSW 97K- 6 Furlongs

#7 Kadri (7/2)- Well clear 2nd in debut and should take a step forward in lifetime race #2.  It wouldn’t take much improvement to graduate amongst this group

#4 Proud Veteran (4/1)- Has ran 2 decent races on 2 different surfaces.  Seems ready to run his best race to date

RACE 3- MSW 97K- 1 Mile

#6 Pit Boss (4/1)- Wayne Catalano’s only horse of the day and he had an eye-catching workout on August 27th.

#7 Dynacharge (9/2)- 1st Time Gelding but still being protected is always a positive sign.  Very capable

RACE 4- MSW 97K- 6 Furlongs

#10 Copley (7/2)- Beaten favorite 1st time out on the Turf at Woodbine.  Wesley Ward’s only Derby Day horse and Corrales only here to ride 2 horses.  Seems this one must have a big shot

#1 Big Lake (5/1)- Sired by American Pharoah and Asmussen can get one ready for their debut

RACE 5- ALLOWANCE-N1X- Mile and Sixteenth (TURF)

#5 Spanish Kingdom (3/1)- Improving with each and every start and should be ready to pick up lifetime win #2 today

#7 Attorney Tim (8/1)- Strong late kick and if it turns into a bunch of horses coming late this one could be right there

RACE 6- ALLOWANCE-N1X- 7 Furlongs

#12 Alex Joon (10/1)- He has been away from the races since December when he broke his maiden right here at Churchill in very impressive fashion.  He has been working very well in company with Aurelius Maximus (Race 7) for his return to the races and should enjoy being outside of horses again today

#11 Cowboy Diplomacy (7/2)- Big performance in breaking his Maiden about 6 weeks ago at Ellis Park and takes on winners for the 1st time today.  Works look solid and he could find himself right back in the Winners Circle today.

RACE 7- ALLOWANCE OC 62K/N2X- Mile and Sixteenth

#9 Aurelius Maximus (7/2)- I liked his stable mate and workout partner in the 6th so if Alex Joon runs well it should be a good sign for this colt.  Looking to take another step forward after his easy win last time at FG

#4 Signalman (8/1)- This horse looks to get back into his better form that he demonstrated in his 2 and 3 year old campaigns.  This Grade 2 Winner should run his best race of 2020 today
